Le Passe-Muraille Sculpture in Montemarte
Le Passe-Muraille (Walker through Walls) is a larger than life bronze statue representing a man half trapped in a stone wall. The French actor and sculptor Jean Marais (1913-1998) created this unusual bronze patina sculpture in 1989 to pay tribute to Marcel Aymé (1902-1967), a popular French novelist, screenwriter and playwright. Marcel Aymé was not born in Paris but spent his entire life in rue Norvins and used Montmartre as the setting for many of his novels. The Passe-Muraille statue was placed in front of his house.
